MDA Telethon 2009 (Check Presentation) 10th Annual MDA Car Show

Dyeco Insurance Services, Inc. recently donated fire prevention coloring booklets for 26,700 students of Chesterfield County Public Schools in K-5th grades. The booklets were provided by Erie Insurance as a community Fire Safety Program. Through Erie’s generous donation, thousands of children will receive valuable information concerning fire safety that could one day save their and their family’s life.

As part of our commitment to community relations, Dyeco Insurance Services, Inc. is providing safety brochures, flyers, and other safety material to the Fire and Life Safety Division. The Division in turn uses the material for local civic groups, safety messages to children adults and seniors when visiting the 21 fire stations in the county.

Submitting a survey online is the first step to volunteering your time and talents with Chesterfield students.

Please visit the CCPS website or click the link, www.chesterfield.k12.va.us and complete a brief survey for the Business and Community Resource Bank. After you complete the survey, you will be listed in the resource bank as someone willing to share your knowledge and experience with students.

The Minnie Harris Caner Support Foundation is a newly approved cancer Christian organization. The purpose of our foundation is to bring cancer victims and their families together, with other cancer families. We are organized for charitable purposes. To provide monetary assistance to those battling cancer, or their family members, in their time of need.

Our vision for the foundation is to be of help for any family member of local churches and communities in the tri-city area battling with cancer.

We would like the opportunity to be of assistance i there is a need for help with prescriptions, food or aid with health care cost, treatment, shelter, and other necessities, and to contribute to and assist with other community outreach activities.

Our desire is to be able to work with others in the community who are battling this challenging disease. We want to spread the word that toy are not alone. We are here to help in person, by phone, or emails. We all know that trouble don’t last always and joy does come in the morning. We know this foundation is blessed, because what God has for our foundation is indeed for us.

“Our children today, our future tomorrow”

What is Lunch Date With The Future?

This initiative seeks to prepare Bellwood Elementary fifth-grade students for success in the 21st century by teaching manners and etiquette in a supportive environment. The students will learn various manners and social etiquette throughout the school year. This is being followed up with monthly class lunches where manners are reviewed over conversation with significant adults from the community. Lunch is held in the classroom – but the classroom has been transformed into a restaurant setting! We will conclude the year at a formal lunch at Salisbury Country Club in June.
The program was originally funded by an MCD Award from the Chesterfield Public Education Foundation inspired by an innovative idea by Laura Fletcher. It now relies on grants, volunteers, and community support. We are always looking for lunch guests and any donations to help this program continue.

** The overall goal for this program is for students to look past their current socioeconomic situation and into a future of opportunities, which in turn will promote self-confidence and pride. **

How can you get involved?

We are always looking for community members to attend our lunches, so just let us know that you’re interested and an email invite will be on it’s way to you. Also, feel free to spread the word to other community members.
If you aren’t able to attend lunches, but would still like to help this program, any donation is helpful. Just make a check out to “Lunch Date with the Future” and mail it to the contact address.

The Southern Knights Cruisers will sponsor a cruise-in at Hardee’s located at 1901 W. Hundred Rd. (Exit 61-A on Rt.I-95) in Chester, VA, Every Saturday Night (weather permitting) from 5:00 PM until? Starts April 5 thru September 2008. Everyone is welcomed to cruise in for Good Food, Good Music, Good Friends, Beautiful Classic Cars, Bikes & More. The clubs DJ’s “Wolf Man John” or the “Rocket Man” will be on hand for entertainment. We L@@K forward to seeing You!

UPDATE

Southern Knights Cruisers set a record for attendance with over 335 registered. Hardee’s set a record for food sales and donated $2,225 to the event. The club had a record number of vendors (some from as far away as NC, MD, & FL) that donated large amounts of money. One company donated $1,000, two others $500 each, several others $300 each, and others $100 to $250 each. By days end, indications are the club likely raised more than the $27,078 to donate to MDA.
